About halfway through the Venice film festival, Spike Jonze- the director of Being John Malkovich- was kidnapped, bound and gagged, and thrown in the trunk of an exotic Italian sports car. He was driven around for several hours, forcibly removed, tied to a chair in a dark basement, and then forced to undergo hours of brutal interrogation by foreign agents. Such is the price of international fame, and so does the touted "spotlight" of fame shine.

Here another Brit, this time a male, inquires about Cameron Diaz's appearance in the movie and how the departure from the more elegant styling of her movies came about. I think Spike might be lying here.

Spike eventually escaped, stole a Vespa and some leather driving gloves, and managed to navigate his way back to welcoming arms.
